This method, traditional in Kyoto, has been in existence for 90 years.
It can depict expressive colors on silk.
Kyo-Yuzen dyeing originated from hand-drawn Yuzen dyeing ,
established in the 17th century by Yuzensai Miyazaki ,
who was very popular as a fan artist.
Furthermore, the roots of the technique goes back to the 8th century.
Fujita Senen has two traditional craftsmen designated by the Minister of Economy.They both received highly marked evaluations in tis field.
Our craftsmanship was also highly praised at a high-level Kyo-Yuzen competition. With their work , we will continue to improve our technique and design.
Our Yuzen technique is called Kata-Yuzen.
Kata means shape patterns and we use them and colored glue for work.
In this Yuzen style we use 1 sheet of a paper pattern per color,
so we sometimes use more than 100 paper patterns to make 1 design.
